Talking Hotmail on your BB for free

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've just received an invite to join the Windows Live Mail Desktop beta.

The description sounded very much like the old Hotmail plus service without the cost. I decided to give it a go..... No problems, hotmail to my desktop, not bad I thought. So I added my hotmail username and password to my BB internet mail account and bingo, Hotmail to my BB for free

If anyone would like an invite to join the beta, PIN me and as soon as I get some, I'll send one across.

Cheers
Mart.

Whenever you get a chance, send me an invite. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get Hotmail on my BB without any luck. I tried to add the gmail acct to my BIS acct but I can't find a way to send the Hotmail emails to my gmail acct. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!!!! Thanks.

I just tried this, and it tells me:

"This service only supports Internet Service Provider (POP/IMAP) e-mail and work e-mail such as MS Outlook/Exhange and Lotus Domino/Notes."

I'm in the Windows Live Beta already with my hotmail account. Perhaps it is a limitation with T-Mobile? It's frustrating, as I currently have to access my hotmail account through the browser.

The beta I'm in is the "Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta" which is an Outlook Express replacement. This beta enables client access to hotmail.

The beta I am in is "Windows Live Mail Beta", no "desktop", but it was replacing hotmail. I was all excited because I thought I'd finally be able to get my hotmail on the BB.

If you guys want the new Windows Live Beta, check out the following to get it FREE WITHOUT AN INVITE:

http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lif...no-invite.html

I can verify this does work. Bear in mind it's a beta...so IMO it has some nice features but still has a way to go.

***EDIT***

Go to go. The above link should work now.

***SECOND EDIT***

This method isn't working for me...as I'm trying in a second hotmail account. Maybe Microsoft *fixed* this? I'll see what else I can dig up, and post back up a little later.

T-Mobile doesn't allow you to get your hotmail or MSN email to your BlackBerry - sorry

Wirelessly posted (7100I: BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

I presently use the standard hotmail on my bb. I haven't taken the time to upgrade to the windows live platform. I had no issues setting up hotmail, but I couldn't forward through gmail when I tried though.

As far as I can see, this is to get "Windows Live Mail" not the desktop version, so theres a good chance that it won't work.

I've attached a copy of a screenshot of the desktop version if that helps clear things up.

Hey! So, a question about this... are you just able now to get your BB to poll your Hotmail account or are you somehow getting your Hotmails pushed real time? I'm using BIS 2.0 and am able to get my BB to poll Hotmail but would obviously love them real time without having to go with forwarding, etc.

Thanks!

No, it IS for the new Windows Live mail:

I've never even seen what you've posted above. Looks interesting though. It did work for me when I first tried it a few weeks ago. It isn't working now...I guess MS found a way to block it. Sorry everyone but I haven't been able to find a way around this. I guess you'll need an invite.

The closest you can get to real time email with Hotmail is fowarding your email to the BIS BB address. There is no real time email delivery with BIS unless you have setup a Yahoo email account or you are using mail connector in an Exchange environment. Both of these integrations use notifications which tell the BB servers that new email has arrived which then gets pushed to your BB.

If you could send me an invite I would appreciate it. If you can pm me that would be great because the area I am in currently I have no Data Connection. Thanks in advance.

Worked fine for me. Not sure how to get it to go to BB, do not really use this account much anyway!

I have my Hotmail account set up on my BIS account. Now I never get any mail on this account but last night I did get something. I did get a copy of it on my BB and seeing it was nothing important I did not open it on my desktop.

I have my Hotmail account set up in Outlook and when I went in this morning nothing was downloaded from Hotmail so I went to the Windows live page and saw that the mail had been marked as read. This leads me to think that when BIS grabs any mail from Hotmail it is marked as read on the Hotmail server.
