Any policies on the server preventing attachments?

Can you be more specific on the new handheld devices? Model Number and Carrier?

Is the attachment options loaded on the handheld devices?

Verify the attachment module is installed, from the home screen open Options and select Applications.

To install the BlackBerry Attachment Service using the Application Loader in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

I have checked the Services on the BES and found that The BB attachment service is running(Started).
Also on the Desktop Manager when I click on Application Loader I get a screen which says "Device Application Selection". It gives me an option to add but what should I add?

I figured your BB Attachment Service is running because you stated other devices are able to open attachments.

Blackberry Attachment Service

To install the attachment service, follow the instructions below:

Cradle your device. If you have a password enabled, you must enter it before your device will connect to the desktop.

Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double-click Application Loader, and click Next.

If prompted, enter your password again, then click Next.

In the Application Loader Wizard window, make sure the box next to BlackBerry Attachment Service is checked. Click Next, then Finish, then Close.

Where did you get the desktop application? You may need to get the software from the company that sold you the blackberry devices.

For example if I have a Verizon 7250 device I will contact my verizon rep that sold us the phones and request the correct software from them to be able to configure the device properly. The desktop software doesnt work with all devices it can sometimes be very device specific. Alternatively the software may have come with the device in the box on a CD/DVD. Call the rep because even the same device can have different software from carrier to carrier.

Either way did you verify on the handheld device by going to options on the handheld device and seeing if it lists the blackberry attachment service. Not to be confused with the service on the server.

I believe you have to have a copy of the BB OS installed on the PC for desktop manager to work correctly. I assume the BB is on TMO since it is an 8700g. Go to the the sticky about latest version of OS on the RIM S/W forum here to find the download link and run the downloaded file. Then folow the instructions given previously

Hope this helps.
