Default Swapping SIM Cards

Work pays for a blackberry 7290 w/ Cingular. I have a Razr V3 w/ Cingular on a two-year plan, it's a family plan, at a great rate.

Question 1: If I take my SIM out of my phone and put it in the BB, I can make outgoing calls, but I can't receive incoming calls. Anyone know why?

Question 2: Is there anyway to consolidate to one device? Work will let me add voice to my blackberry (at my expense), but if I move my cell phone number over it will cost me $150 of breaking my contract. On the other hand, I can add a data plan to my voice account, but then work won't pay for it. Any advice?

Thanks,
Joe

i would ask your company if you can cancel your service that they are paying for, add bb service onto your personal SIM, and then submit a montly/quarterly/yearly reimbursement request to them and have them reimburse you for the blackberry data service.

They get a corporate rate on the data plan that I couldn't get on my own. So they won't reimbruse me. I guess there's nothing I can do.

If your company has a corporate rate, check with them. They may have arrangements with Cingular to migrate your number to the BB account without any penalty charges to your account.

My company has such arrangements not only with Cingular but also with t-Mobile and Sprint/Nextel, but we have over 35,000 employees nationally and over 6,000 Blackberry users and almost as many Good users, so there's a pretty strong incentive for the cell companies to "give" us benefits that don't actually cost them anything!
