| Rogers "Unlimted" plan cost me $1520 last month! Please Login to Remove! I am one of your newest Blackberry users. Prior to getting my 8700, I surfed through these forums to learn and educate myself on the latest and greatest RIM device.
My blackberry provider in Canada is Rogers. Going to one website, getting about 40 emails, and having Google Maps and BBWeather installed, my bill for the last 2 weeks was $1520.30!
This almost floored me seeing that I visited 1 website and did very little internet activity. I did get this charge dropped but something is very wrong here.
I have two 8700s used almost exactly the same. One had 1mb of usage, the other had 97mb! Perhaps to the software ppolling for data, perhaps a large attachment.
Either way, Rogers better change their plans and fast as Bell Mobility and their other competitors already have a unconditional true Unlimited Plan.

Wow!! That's really something. When I read it, I seriously thought you were talking about Cingular. That's truly a Cingular move. I hope that you'll be able to find a true unlimited plan. | | Offline

| Surprised that you didn't get 3 free months (or 6 if you asked for it). Also surprised that even if the data monitoring was incorrect, they charged you $1520.30. The data overage should have been $504, i.e. (97-25)*$7. | | Offline

| They don't care, never have never will. As long as their allowed to rape the public Robbers will. Best thing my company did was ditch Robbers. It's nice using 60-70MB of data month without worry or additional charge on the unlimited plan. If you want to humor yourself check out www.ihaterogers.ca Quote: |

| At the time of your activation, there was no "unlimited"data package. Rogers had changed the name of the package some months ago to the 25MB data package. I reactivated a new blackberry some three months ago and all of my documentation, invoices, promo materials, etc all said "25 MB" and there was no mention of Unlimited anything.
Barring that, there is currently, and was at the time of your activation, a 3 month unlimited (truly) data, calling, SMS, etc, etc promo on.
If you did in fact recieve an inaccurate invoice, correcting this should be no more than a phone call away given the current promos.

Now, if you're silly enough to buy the 4M plan instead, that's different.

| It is sad that our Canadian neighbors brought us the Blackberry and have to get screwed over by Rogers.
Do you Canadians consider having and competition in the Blackberry provider market. De-regulation may have hurt the established airlines but it HAS help the wireless market here in the USA. As long as you only have Rogers, expect them to stick it to you! | | Offline

Bell offers unlimited data on their CDMA network. So when an 8700 comes out for CDMA, Rogers may have to respond.

| Damn guy, sign the petition please -- and make SURE you voice your opinion with customer support..
what did you use to cause that much data use though? Do you use google maps often? (google maps is about 1-2 megs per large session)
It does sound like there was a mistake though.. | | Offline

| The petition is no longer valid. You guys asked for 3 possible courses of action at the bottom of the petition. Rogers chose #3 - rename the plan. It's done. A new petition needs to be made asking for there to actually be an unlimited plan.

The Unlimited plan is capped at 25MB, so I would say the petition has not yet been answered. | | Offline
