Question More TCP/IP parameters on 7100G

Please Login to Remove!

Dear All,

I just got a 7100G (upgraded to latest OS 4.1.0) from my friend.
It is NOT SIM-locked and I can use it with my current GSM/GPRS operator which, however, does NOT "officially" support blackberry.
I can use as a voice mobile but got no luck to work over their GPRS
data network. (I just want web browsing, but not BB email)

I read postings in this forum and learn that some TCP/IP settings
on the BBs may help. I found that I could set APN in "Advanced options".
However, I could NOT find anywhere throughout the 7100G which allows
manual input of Proxy/Gateway IP address and TCP port (9210, etc)
particularly for my GSM operator. Could you please kindly tell me where
can I set these parameters manually ??

Many many thanks in advance

best regards,
William from Hong kong

You have to get some kind of data plan. While the data does network rides on the cell network, they're not the same.

If your cell provider doesn't offer it, your Blackberry is simply a PDA with a phone.

For the gozillionth time.... if you don't have a BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN, YOU DON'T HAVE ANY DATA FEATURES. Case closed.
You can play around with the TCP/IP settings, APN settings, Advanced Options, Proxies and Gateways until you're blue in the fingers.
No BB Data Plan = No Data. Yes, this includes web browsing too.

Question

Thanks for your reply.

I was probably wrong since I thought that the discssion in this
forum with subject "How to Configure Full Internet Access On BlackBerry"
(thread t=2185) addressed similar question.
