Default BB through work, what kind of business?

Please Login to Remove!

Just curious for those of you that get a BlackBerry provided to you through work, what kind of business/occupation do you work in, that uses BlackBerry for a communications tool??

(Such as: financial/public safety/education/healthcare/IT/wireless/general business/goverment/military/other)

Would be interesting to see those of you that get one as a side benefit, what type of work you're involved in.

Most will be surprised to learn that at the CONSTRUCTION company I work for we use blackberrys. Specifically we do single and multi-family drywall. We use them for our field and management teams. Scheduling, email, tasks, nextel, maps, berry411 (much cheaper than 411). On our web site we put a link for service requests. Fill out the form and its sent to our office and scheduling personal. I LOVE MY BB!!!!

Construction as a general contractor performing project supervision duties. The ruggedness (I'm coming from NEXTEL) of BB devices does concern me as I am often in the trenches performing pick-up work and surrounding by incessant clouds of dust and debris. I notice accumulations of debris within the headset jack and charging port within minutes of attending to site supervision. That said, I am most likely going to swap SIM cards to a beater phone (Nokia 6030) for on-site use and retain the BB for general use...

My company is in the service/construction industry. I got 28 employees with three field supervisors doing bidding and quality control. I gave them all a Blackberry and it has changed the way we do our work. Our work includes doing all the interior painting and drywall for 65 apartment complexes in Jacksonville. We are also involved in the drywall and painting in 5 condo conversions.

The Blackberrys earn their cost every day!

My company is in the manufacturing of consumer/industrial packaging sector. We use our BB's mostly for sales, upper management and our IT staff. We are running about 25 BB's in our division and still no BES!! Our corporate parent is dragging its feet deciding on what they want to do with BB's..

Lawyer in a firm. We are given so much towards the purchase of the blackberry, then so much a month for the service. And it has been invaluable. Clients these days require that we be reachable and so many of them use e-mail extensively.

Work on the corporate side of a radio company. 1200 radio stations in the company. While not a requirement at all levels, they are immensely helpful when trying to stay in touch.

One (8700) for Public relations work (online communications) within a company.

And a second 8700 of course for private use.

Pediatric ENT department within a large pediatric hospital. we have a mix of bb's, treo's, and various palm pilots. the bb's are slowly winning over the crowd. we have seen a shift over the last 6 months in interest in bb over treo. mostly because the docs are tired of me sitting at their desk once or twice a week fixing their treo.

i was given a bb so all our docs could have a quick way to reach me and with our experience with the treo it seemed like a more reliable choice.

Like BigA, we're a manufacturing corporation, too (c. 1200 employees between United States, Canada, U.K., and India). We manufacture industrial lighting, fixures, and ballasts. We use our BB's mostly for sales, upper management and our IT staff. We are running about 11 BB's in On our current BES. Our COO/President, India division President, and global sales director have had BB since about 2001. We finally got a BES when our current CFO arrived in 2004. After that point we equiped the Sales force with BBs and I got one as well (IT Staff).

i just recently got my blackberry, and convinced my partner at work and some guys from other stores to invest in the BB. Since then, between the 20 or so of us, the BB has become an INVALUABLE tool for my Loss Prevention team.

(loss prevention = Catching Shoplifters for the most part)

We create cutom on hold advertisements for phone systems (music on hold) a pretty unique niche in the telecommunications industry. I would be lost without the BB. Iget scripts e-mailed directly to the BB so I can look them over and approve them from anywherem and with ramble Im nobody has to know Im away from my desk.....
Also great for the golf course tobe able to accomplish spme work woth the hassels of worrying your ringer will disturb someone. Very polite to just send e-mails silently, and again it looks like im at my desk...
I wont even get into the happy hour benifits....
