Default Magnet and sleep with holster

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to the Blackberry - really like my new 8700c and trying to figure out a few things. When I push the Blackberry into it's RIM supplied holster, the holster immediately depresses either the P or A key and asks if I want to set a speed dial. I thought the magnet would cut the unit off until it was removed from the holster? What I'm I missing?

Thanks,
Gus

The magnet just sleep and auto off's the BB for battery consumption. Maybe consider one of the many leater swivel pouches for your BB?

you have a hard case or soft... if it is soft they can be tight at times and just need a little breaking in

But my point is - it does not auto-off - it asks me if I want to set a speed dial (on A or P) and locks up?

It's the black plastic RIM saddle that came with the unit.

Are you putting it in the holster with the face in?

If not- do that. Face out causes this problem and has been talked about it the past- mostly when the 8700 first came out. It was my first BB and I put it face out and had that problem.

Try face in!

Thanks - never occurred to me it would not go face out - which seems odd - and strange it will fit both ways. I guess one needs to pull the thing out to see who's calling? It also seems hard to not unintentionally depress scroll wheel, etc. in the process. Thanks again for the info - the documentation from Cingular seems lacking in some pretty basic startup info.

I would suggest you get rid of the plastic clip holster as it will dmage the finish on your handheld.

you don't want the sceen getting scraped and scratched on everything so that's why it's face in...and besides it's sleeping so you won't be able to see anything on screen even if it was face out, until you uncraddle it first anyways...

Glad it worked for you.
