Default Traveling to Malaysia

I am going to Malaysia this summer and was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on the cheapest method of cell service overseas. I will be spending most of my time in KL.

I have a couple of options, but cannot decided what to do...

1 - Just take my phone and use international roaming rates ($2.00 a minute)
2 - Rent a phone
3 - Get a sim card when I am there and put it in my phone...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your phone is unlocked and all you need is phone service, getting a sim and phone card will be the cheapest. If your phone is locked, or you need the blackberry service, you have no choice but to use your blackberry on roaming.

Option 3 is the best; that's what I do. Still carry the BB for e-mail, but voice goes through the local SIM card.

we send people all over the world for the gov & and do the same as NJBlackberry.. that is by far the best way to go... you can get a prepaid track phone.. but it's pretty much the same price.. and not worth it
