Thumbs up Hooray for the Forum!

Welp... we've all had situations reading the boards where we've thought "hmmm.... that's really handy, I'm glad someone posted that" or "Wow! Note to self - remember where to find that nugget!"
Last night was my moment. (think javaloader and you'll know where i'm going with this...) About 11:30 I decided to play with my wife's 7290 (STUPID!)I hook it up to the BDM and it tells me thier are newer versions of efile that can be uploaded (probably from when I upgraded my 8700r). New Versions??!! this can only be good right?! Hook me up, Mr BDM!
3 minutes later, fatal error - spinning hourglass...
Sigh. I'm a reasonably intelligent guy - despite the fact that I was playing with my wife's blackberry late at night (Stupid) without a current backup (Doubly stupid) hmmmm truth be told, without any backup at all! (OMG what an idiot!) - So I search our lovely little forum and found my "nugget" aka the javaloader batch file and quicky wipe tutorial. Long story short, 2 hours later after the wipe, subsequent OS reinstall and data restoration by hand my wife had a fully functioning 7290 again! And she will be none the wiser! Well, except for the fact that her bluetooth speaker phone isn't paired currently because if you think I was gonna shake my ass out to the garage at 1:30 in the morning... - I digress.
Thanks guys for the awesome forum and all the work that all the mods and helpers provide. It really makes a difference.

Couple of Reminders:
1) ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP!
2) I also ran into the issue with the dead BB not being recognized by my laptop. I had to go to the Desktop. Worked flawlessly from there.

Red face How long does it take to "wipe" a BB using javaloader?

Hi all:

I've been looking out on the forums for instructions to wipe a BB, but can't find COMPLETE instructions. I am running javaloader .... but it has been running for hours. Does it actually take that long?

Any help would be appreciated!

no, It's usually done pretty quickly. You might try JL_CMDER (search for it, you'll easily find it.) It has a little bit easier interface. when your done just open desktop manager and reload the os using Application Loader.

Is the javaloader app on the CD that comes with the unit?
