Anyone out there know if I can activate a berry that is located out in the UK on Vodafone on my BES in NYC (USA). The berry just keeps timing out and says that the services are unavailable and to contact the system admin. Checked with Vodafone, and they tell me all of the permissions are correct.

There are no restrictions about using a foreign BES.

Are you using the activation password sent by the BES? (Not your regular email/lan password)

Yes, using the actication sent by bes. I actually setup BES at the NY site. Talked to Vodafone, they said the gateways might not be compatible? Which is why i just turned here since they seemed useless.

Have you tried to activate with the desktop manager ?

I had a problem recently with Enterprise Activation on Voadafone with a new 8707v - it seems that they've started to block (or not activate?) BES use with a handheld bought for BIS. The first line support at Vodafone was useless, but eventually I got put through to someone who was supporting BES sys admins who did a check on the PIN and added BES as well as BIS to the account.

For info, with a new (security wiped) handheld I could Enterprise Activate the 8707v using desktop manager, but as soon as I switched on the cell 'Enterprise Activation' was dissabled (the icon and settings disappeared on the handheld). There were very specific errors thrown by BES and the handheld when it tried to send / receive email that indicated it was a network (Vodafone) error. Unfortunately I can't remember what those errors were!

I use a US BES and purchased a BB in HongKong, and activated in China, all OK. I activated via desktop manager. Remember to connect VPN if needed, the desktop manager must have a connection to the mail system, i.e. M$ Exchange, Notes, etc.

But from the very beginning, I just cannot activate BB, all because the reseller just subscribed me as a BIS user!! Then I called the service center and made them changed accordingly, then everything went OK!
