Exclamation MMS on a Blackberry? What?

Please Login to Remove!

I guess I should preface this thread:

1 - I do not own a Blackberry yet, im waiting for the verizon 8703e in Sept
2 - I did search, but all that showed up was MMS problems with nextel

Onto the question:

As I know MMS, the ability to send multimedia messages, what type of MMS messages does a blackberry send?

Does it send picture messages to other phones? Can i take a picture with a regular camera, send it to my blackberry, then MMS it to a RAZR (for example) ?

Thanks for your help on this one and I cant wait to be a proud owner of a BB soon!

you can't take a picture, and send it from your blackberry. Not until they have built in cameras..

i doubt you can MMS a picture -- has anyone found that ability?

Besides, MMS and SMS all cost extra on most (at least my) BB plans. it's no different..

He said: take a picture with a REGULAR camera and then SEND it to your BB. I don't know about the 8703e, I'm using the 8700g. As far as the 8700g, yes you can take a regular picture, put it on your computer, email it to yourself as an attachment, then create an MMS with the picture, and finally send it to another capable phone.

MMS itself is ~disabled~ by Verizon on the BB 7130e. No matter what I've done they won't enable it so any MMS received comes in to vzwpix.com. You can send/receive/view images as email attachments but that's not remotely close to the same (although Verizon tries to spin it as the same). At one point it was said they'd allow MMS enabled with software/firmware updates but that hasn't happened yet. -Pk

Thanks for the help guys, but let me clarify..

- on carriers other than Verizon, MMS is enabled and has the ability to receive/send MMS messages

- on Verizon you cannot receive MMS messages (picture messages) directly to the device to view

I guess the most obvious question would be:

Can an OS change, for example to Telestra, make the MMS work for Verizon?

Even with the upgrade it won't do it. Even if you switch to another OS like Bharti and such you still will not get them.

FWIW T-Mobile UK support MMS on the 8700g. I can send send and receive MMS's. Handy particularly when out of the UK and wanting to communicate other than by email, as MMSs are actually less expensive than SMSs when roaming with T-Mobile UK.

I had a problem with my 7105t on t-mobile, where whenever someone sent me a picture message it would go to t-mobilepictures.com instead of my phone. I learned that before you can receive picture MMS you have to send one. That way your phone gets provisioned for it. So I just downloaded a picture from the internet and sent it to my friends phone as a mms. Now all picture message go straight to my phone. Hope that helps.

I'm on 8700c with Cingular. Trying to send pictures taken with a Razor (Cingular also) to my BB. Cingular says BB 8700 can't do that because no MMS. I can receive pics on email. Anything I can do to receive the photos from the Razor? Thanks.

Thumbs down 7130e mms

as of 1/17/07 i finaly got someone to liestion to me at verizon the 7130e has no mms at all on this phone. and it is not a blackberry issue it is a verizon issue they think that mms is only for phones with a camera on them. boy are they off.
after 3 days of being hung up on and rerouted and told no no no i finally got a tech to sit down with one. I asked them to figure out how to send out info and the only way is to open item you want to copy, select it, and copy it then close that down, and open a new e mail and pasted it into body of text then put you address info in and send it you cant send data files or pichures with the blackberry from verizon it is really laim. I have had the 7100t from t mobile and had all the option and no hassel this phone leaves you dead in the water without mms your e mailing in no better then a text message oh and you cant forward anything with a pichure in it. it shows up at your sender pc blank lol . what a joke there working on this issue lets see how long it takes them . i have gone in to the customer service on the web and fill out a complaint under contact us now. they need to know there product dosnt preform per the owners manuls. on page 16 of the manual for the 7130e it tells how to send a mms there is no icon to click its missing off the phone.
good luck im looking for a different phone
