Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched around and didn't find my answer, so here it goes....

ok, so up until a couple days ago, when I selected the "messages" icon on my BB, i was brought to a list of all my messages from all my folders - sms, email, sent sms, sent email, google chat conversations, sent calls, missed calls, received calls. Now, the default screen is different - it says the current day, but the message on top is from around a month ago, nothing recent, no calls or emails, just sms. It started 2 days ago, and when it did, the default "messages" screen just showed the default "welcome" messages from blackberry. Progressively, more messages have been showing up, but they're all old, and any time i get a new message/email etc., i have to use the shortcut to see the "incoming" folder. Unlike many people on this board, I would like to have all my things in one basket. How do I get this back? Did I change a setting inadvertantly? I noticed an automatic software update in the last few days, did this make this happen?

yeah, I'm aware of the shortcuts. I just want my all-inclusive initial inbox back. Is there any way to do this? I like being able to see all my messages/calls all together in one screen.

anybody else have any input?

Go to the Phone Apps Options menu, General Options. What does Phone List Veiw say?

Phone list view says "call log." and thanks, but this changes the wrong thing that I am after. I'm really just wondering how/why my previous message view was changed when I first click on my Messages icon. I don't like having to use the " I" shortcut everytime I want to see my inbox, not this weird initial inbox which contains messages from about a month ago at the top of the list.

im assuming when it did the update it didn't backup/restore any information. That would be the culprit of your problem as far as information missing.

As for the rest, I don't use googletalk so I had no idea it showed up in your inbox, as for the rest, read the above comments.

no, there isn't any information missing. i can still get to all of my messages, but the default inbox i get consists of sms messages, listed under the current date, but the actual messages are from about a month ago. each day, more of these messages move into the default inbox, and my new sms, emails, and phone calls end up in different folders that i have to use the shortcuts/long way to get to.

ok, so I figured this out. I inadvertently selected to keep messages "forever" and my BB just ran out of space. The random old messages that showed up on the default messages screen were the oldest messages in reverse chronological order, and once I deleted all my messages, the old all-in-one list came back!
