Default Negative Message Numbers

Please Login to Remove!

Heya,

I've noticed something on my BB for the Email icons for external email accounts. At times, I am seeing negative numbers. For example, when I select [email address] on my home screen, there is a (-3) next to it. As I get more messages in that account, the number goes up (-1, 1, etc). When I delete messages, the number returns to the original negative number.

I access my email through my BB, but also through my webmail application. All email is later downloaded through POP to my Outlook (removing them from the service). I'm using BIS. Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Regards,
James

That's odd. I have seen it go to -1 before but that went away on it's own. You could try deleting your service books for those email accounts and resending them to your BB.

Service books are in options > service books in 4.0 code and in options > advanced options > service books in 4.1 code. You will have to login to your BIS account or get your carrier to resend service books.

For what it's worth

BIS 2.0 Negative # Question

For me, deleted posts are staying on the Yahoo server (I think...if they eventually delete on the server, it is only after a long while). I was at -400 and something, as I recall. Went on Yahoo and deleted the read emails. Number on my BB shortly went postive and is now going more and more negative again. Don't know if there's a relationship, or not.

Wirelessly posted (NakedBerry: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D052; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

I took out my battery and when I put it back the negative number was gone.

Thanks for the feedback. I've tried the resending Service Books. I'm using my BB to access external email accounts (not Yahoo), and it appears to happen with each of them. I've since hid them (thanks to another thread on here) and now just use my Messages icon (where they all are)

I think it has to do with IMAP purging of deleted items. My outlook goes into negatives with my IMAP account until i exit and reopen.

I see it on my device (Sprint 7130e) using POP3 accounts.
