So, I am all excited about receiving my 8700g today. I used to have a Blueberry when I was working in my corporate past life.

During my Intellisync process (synching to Outlook 2003 on my Windows PC), I get to the same point and fail every time with the message "Unable to write or update application".

I've tried accepting all conflicts, desktop overwrites BB, all kinds of options, and nothing is working.

Any suggestions?

I also have a Palm T/X which syncs to the same Outlook file(s) just fine.

I called T-Mo and the tech guy said I may have an invalid character somewhere (yep, I read the support link too). I have over 700 contacts, so I am sure there are some blank fields or strange characters.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, but that doesn't really seem to help much. I'm accepting all of the mapping as is, but it's still failing.

There's a thread about activating the sync logging function using the advanced option when syncing. It explains how to find the offending item while syncing. I think it's in this Forum but you moght want to use the global search function on the menu bar. I don't know exactly how to do this, as I haven't had this problem yet.

I fixed it myself (pure genious that I am )

I had a feeling it was hitting a character or mapping it didn't like, although the log wouldn't give me any more info.

So, I went through my 600+ contacts and made sure there was SOMETHING in the last name field. T-Mo rep advised same - which sucks because some people I have as "Joe", which seems to be a no-no as they want both name fields filled out. Hence, Joe became "Joe Joe" as did some others, and voila. Five hours later!
