Default SPAM, direct to BB account

Please Login to Remove!

I'm not very savvy with the email stuff, but I've been doing some searching here for ways to reduce spam.

It seems that most here are getting spam into there [email address] address and it's being picked up by the Blackberry account and then forwarded to the unit. This isn't my problem. Spam messages are not going to my normal address. At least I don't think so, because I can't see them on my server.

Somehow my bb BIS address "myaccountname@mycingular.blackberry.net" is the one getting spamed.

I assume I would have to close that account and reopen it under a different name is that correct? I can't change the "myaccountname@mycingular.blackbery.net" account any other way, correct?

I'm guessing spam filters would not help since anything sent directly to that address would be sent instantly to the device.

If you configure your filters correctly they should do the trick? I filter tones of unwanted SPAM that comes to my POP3 and blackberry.net addresses.

If you upgrade to BIS 2.0 you will be able not only change the "myaccountname@mycingular.blackbery.net" by yourself, but you can also delete it completely.

As soon as I migrated to BIS 2.0 I deleted blackberry email address. I only left my blackberry account configured with [email address] and it works very well for me.

Thanks so much for the information guys. I wasn't sure you could delete the BIS account that is given to you when you log in.

Best.

After upgrade to BIS 2.0 you can delete blackberry email that comes with blackberry account, not account itself.

When I was with BIS 1.8 I had account "myname" with password "my password," and when I login to this account I had two email addresses: [email address] and [email address]

I didn't need [email address] but it was there and I can't do anything about it.

After I upgraded to BIS 2.0 I have account "myname" with password "my password," and when I login to this account I have one email address: [email address]
After upgrade I had both, but I immediately deleted [email address] email address.
