Default TMobile 8700g $299.99 best deal?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm a TMobile customer with 2 phones (one is a 7100T), my contract is up and called them about upgrading my phone. They said the best they can offer is $299 for the 8700g. I tried to play hardball saying I might switch to Cingular for the 7130c but they didn't budge. Is 299 for the 8700g the best I can expect for the time being?

Thanks,
Frank

I didn't have an upgrade and I picked one up for $305 on ebay. Without an upgrade its over $400. I would say $299 is a fair price.

great....My contract is already up with t-moble and I was thinking of upgrading to the 8700 as well. I was hoping for a little better price then 299.

I had a 7290 with cingular and my contract was out. I bought the 8700c on Amazon (free after rebates), and had a new account created (on tmo). Then I just migrated my old phone number over to the new account, and closed out the old account. I did this in April, when the terms for the rebate was only a 1 year contract. I just checked, it is still free after rebates on Amazon, but requires a 2 year K.

$299 is the best deal that you are going to get because the BB8700g is a hot item right now...if you want to wait for like another month or so or just keep checkin on TM website or calling them back to see if the price has changed-- then i would suggest just getting it for the $299

and BTW that is the same price i bought mines for and i waited for like 2wks and the price hasnt changed since then.

Default T-mobile - - Loyal customers get no break

FYI -I'm a TMobile Blackberry 7100T user. I also support all the blackberries at my complany. Recently I got a call from T-mobile saying if anyone wanted to switch to t-mobile (from another provider) they could get the 8700 for like 49.00. My contract has been up for over a year now, and the best deal they would give me is 299 with a 2 year contract.

Interesting, I just called TMo and told them that the phone is free for new users at Amazon and that I thought it was silly that existing good customers had to pay $300. They gave me a while thing about how the amazon deal is null and void if you cancel a previous account, etc... She did offer me the phone for $249, but it still seems silly that a new user can get it for free.

You know what you can try....port your number to another provider, then go to amazon and order the 8700g (which is now $50 with a $50 rebate=free) and port your number back to t-mobile. upon porting your number back to t-mo your other account will close with the other provider, and as long as you do it within the 15 day trial period that most providers offer (I know for sure nextel and cingular do) you wont get charged the early termination fee.

However, the one thing that may cost you, is the activation fee...which is usually only $35...much better than the $299 you would have been charged. There is also a hassle factor....essentially porting your number twice, but IMO, worth the $299....you should also double check any restocking fees, etc. to make sure youre not whammied by some silly restocking fee, etc. Usually, if im not mistaken, you if you get the phone directly from the store, there is rarely a restocking fee, but dont my word for it.

thought id let you guys know, i went to tmo in my local mall with the amazon offer for getting the 8700g for free, they said it was a lot of trouble to go through amazon and problems porting numbers etc etc, so they ended up counteroffering an 8700g for $175.00 with a $50 mail in rebate. We bought 4 for my whole family and good friend at that offer!!!!!

plus, got cingular on the line for a friend of mine and her husband, they were 6 months into their service with them, and got cingular to give them two 8700c's for $250 and a $50 rebate, and all they had to do was renew their contract. You have to get the cancellation dept to offer you this, new sales would not match, it was only when we said to cingular, ok we'd like to cancel did they bring out that deal.

good luck!!!

Well I know for sure that you can get the 8700g blackberries for 50 w/ a 50 dollar mail in rebate (free). My manager gave me one for 50 w/ a 50 dollar mail in rebate. The company makes 320 on commission for a new activation.. And then they also make more money on the higher plans... Then they also make extra money for you adding a data plan (which is required on all blackberry sales), and then they make more money on insurance. They can afford to give it to you for free, cause theyll still get an activation towards their quota, plus the company will still make a couple hundred bucks. Better to make some money off of you rather than none...

So I wouldn't doubt that a t mobile rep would offer 50 w/ a 50 if he needed to reach his activation quota for the pay period. It might be harder to bargain with a corporate store. What you can always try is this... Go to the tmobile store and ask them when their pay periods are- just pretend that you're intersted in a job. Then go back when its towards the end of the pay period, because you'll notice if they need the acts, theyll cut huge deals.

Not at all. That's standard operating procedure with any wireless carrier. Why should they bothering giving you another subsidy once they've already hooked you as a customer (from their perspective, anyway)?

Default Try Venicom

1-866-602-9080. With rebates you end with them paying you $125 to own a BB. Mind you they make the rebates stretch over 6 months and with all the photocopying and form filling i bet most people forget/dont bother -which of course they bank on !!
I got mine in MAy- offer may have closed but worth investigating-
