Angry Problem with 7520 nextel activation

Please Login to Remove!

I thought this was bs but I figured I would try to get a second opinion. I bought a used blackberry 7520 rim for nextel, it had nothing but the clip phone and battery. I bought a blackberry sim and had my service transferred from my old sim from i730, I was told by nextel tech to do master reset, reset failed and he told me there was a tower down in my area call back in two hours if I didn't see NTXL in the signal area. three hours later still no service. Call again told to wait two hours. Called back again after four hours and told wait until tomorrow. Now the whole time the "towers are down" everyone that I know in my area with blackberry (same model by the way) says they haven't had a problem. I noticed when I check the status on the sim it says no valid sim. The last time I talked to tech they said everything is fine with my phone except that the voice data tower is down. I have received 3 messages saying welcome to blackberry but still no service. Doe's anybody know what the problem is?

What's the color of the back of the sim - gray, yellow, or black?

Do you see ANY letters in the signal area? Anything like NXtl, or nxtl, or x, or OFF?

What you will have to do is contact Nextel and purchase a sim card that is compatable with the 7520. They are different from the regular sim cards

No - all SIM cards are the same. It does, however, need to be a GREY 32K card to operate correctly in the BB.

Are you certain you purchased a Nextel SIM? Cingular/TMo SIMs won't work in the device.

As long as the sim card starts with an 8 and ends in 300 and is black/grey in color you should be ok. If the sim Card states bad sim. either the sim is fried or the nextel rep didnt input the sim# correctly. Call nextel back and ask for the blackberry Department. HAve them run the Sim # and see if itt is on a black list. I had this problem when I bought my BB. The sim that came with my BB was on a list that could not be activated. I bought a new one on Ebay for 6 bucks shipped. The Sim i recieved activated in 5 minutes.

Is the wireless radio turned on. If you get an X that usually means the wireless radio is turned off. Also did you do a wireless radio reset under security settings under options?

Ok I went to wireless toyz which nextel recommended. They said the software was corrupted. He said that for $15.00 he would redo the software and I needed a new sim for $35.00. Then the guy told me he would give me a brand new phone for mine and $35.00. I went with the last option and the phone was up and running. I would recommend going to these guys before calling a tech. When I called nextel today they said they had no clue when the tower would be up and running. I wish they would have told me to take it to a tech instead of me coming up with the idea. Love the phone, love 2way, hate sprint together with nextel. Thanks for all you help guys.

glad to see that you got your phone up and running. So you got a new phone or you just had him flash the OS and a new Sim?
