Just an FYI...

Effective today, Bell Mobility has made some changes to their Blackberry data plans for new subscribers.

The $60 plan now has a cap: 30MB (additional data @ $10/MB). However, the plan also includes 30MB of tethered data (Voyageur).

For those who consume considerably more data, a $100 plan gives you up to 250MB of Blackberry data, as well as 250MB of tethered data.

Thanks for the head's up. My employer has a special deal with Bell, so this doesn't affect me.

so I guess Bell is going the way of Rogers then.

Seems to me like people who use a lot of bandwidth (over 25meg) are a very small percentage of bberry users indeed...

Not quite as bad as Rogers. At least with Bell you have a reasonable option for overage: Another $40 gives you up to 250MB. With Rogers, you're on the hook for $7/MB above 25MB. To get 250MB of Blackberry data on Rogers (and that level of consumption will soon be possible), you'd end up paying over $1500!! I'd rather pay the $100....

There are changes to Blackberry capabilities coming which will increase average data consumption. The carriers are just getting their plans and details in place in anticipation of these changes....
