Hello,

I have the 7250 and early morning my girlfriend calls and it goes straight to VM for her.


The phone is left in the holster with the USB wire plugged in to PC for a charge. I do not have it set to turn off.

Any ideas why this happens?

Do you receive emails/alerts at the time of morning you typically receive calls?

CDMA devices (while in non-EVDO coverage) are not particularly efficient at switching from "data" and "voice" mode. The standard does not support simultaneous voice and data. If a call comes in during or within a few seconds of actively sending/receiving data, the call goes to VM.

EVDO significantly improves on this by suspending the data session immediately to allow the call to go through.

GSM/GPRS/EDGE devices are better than 1X, but not quite as good as EVDO.

The "Holy Grail" of technologies are UMTS/HSPDA, and EVDO REV. A (when it becomes available), which both support simultaneous voice/data. Thus significantly reducing the amount of calls going to VM....

There could also be a problem with the cell network in your neighbourhood....these may be high usage periods in your area.

I realized it would happen any time of the day/night when i tested it myself. Ir would go right to VM no matter how I would have it, in holster, charge, docked, etc...

I got it upgraded to EVDO and so far so good, but the true test is if I have a saddened lady on my VM tomorow morning.

Do you have service? No signal, no service. Call would go straight to VM.

It seems to have randmoly stopped.

Very well could've been due to the EVDO being added.

I am having the same problem where it goes straight to voicemail. I just turned my Data off becasue I was tired of paying 45 a month on top of my bill. Now I only have 1X and I had the phone replaced and it still does it. Might have to turn the Data back on

Do you have it set to turn off at night? The 8700 (that is what I have so I don't know about other BBs) has a setting to have the device go to "sleep" You can set it for the timeframe you wish or turn the option off. Mine is set to turn off at 11 PM and come back on at 7 AM. All calls go to voicemail during that time and email is held until the BB wakes up. Then they are all dumped.
