Default One way syncing

Please Login to Remove!

I was told that Yahoo email for a 7250 was one way synching not two way.

What exactly is the difference? Does this apply to all BBs?

Thank you,

Trent

One way synching means that when you delete on your Blackberry you also have the option of deleting on Yahoo. But when you delete on Yahoo that won't delete on your Blackberry. Some people see this as an important limitation of the system. It doesn't bother me at all. I manage from my Blackberry, archive on Yahoo.
It applies to all Blackberry devices using BIS 2.0. I have the 8700.

Wirelessly posted (7250: BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

Are you certain that its all carriers that offer BIS 2.0?

I believe it's all carriers EXCEPT Cingular - as they do not allow real-time polling of Yahoo! accounts

When you have been on BES you will see why some think its a limitation. BES offers full two way synching of sent email, read marks, deletes and folder moves, plus calendar, and address book synch. It's heaven cause you can manage the email from the BB or your PC and never worry again.

I don't disagree with you. That could work well. Yahoo integration is certainly not at that level of sophistication - no folder integration etc. The reason it works for me is that I do 99% of email on my Blackberry. I rarely log into Yahoo. But I love that I can delete 'meet for lunch' emails, Yahoo alerts etc. on Yahoo from my Blackberry but still archive the important emails on there. It's very convenient to just archive the stuff I want to keep. Note: this does not apply to Sent emails; those don't synch - you have to manually delete them on Yahoo.

On the other topic, I think that's right that it applies to all BIS 2.0 Blackberry devices except for those running on Cingular. (What's up that anyway?)

Yes what is the business realtionship again that causes this. I know there is a tie to something out there.

I wonder if there is bad blood between Cingular and Yahoo that was generated by the SBC/Yahoo Partnership. One or the other may not be happy with it and is trying to get well through negotiation for this. You never can tell.

Just a thought
