Default BIS 2.0 - Slow always?

Please Login to Remove!

I have setup mail accounts on both nextel and sprint phones, it takes normally 10-15 min for the mail to arrive, this is after waiting the intial 20 minutes they recommend for the account to get setup.

Is this always slow, what happend to PUSH mail??

The email is PUSHED from the BIS server to your BlackBerry, but POP accounts that you setup are POLLED for new mail by the BIS server periodically. If you want your mail received immediately, then set up accounts to forward directly to your BlackBerry email address upon receipt - at which point the mail will be PUSHED to your BlackBerry.

BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) is used to poll configured IMAP or POP mail accounts. Polling is 10-15 minutes and is not instant push mail. Only email sent to your xxx.blackberry.net address will be pushed instantly.

There's a trick here - put in the wrong info for that polling account, so that mail isn't retrieved like that but you can still send out (so maybe put the pop3 wrong) - and then forward your mail to your blackberry email address, so it's basically instant.

Cheers.

actually it's better to add your account w/ the right info then set the main filter to "do not forward to handheld"

then set up a forwarding rule to your BIS address

of course this is only for BIS 2.0

If I do this I will be able to automatically have the right from address set when I reply based on what address it was sent to, or would I have to set the from address manually?

Yahoo (including free Yahoo) emails are also pushed for most carriers. It has been reported that Cingular does not push Yahoo email.

What provider are you using BIS 2.0 with? I'm using BIS 2.0 with Cingular but it doesn't allow me to forward to a specific address?
