Default Help, can't get email to reconcile

Please Login to Remove!

OK I have tried for 2 days to get this to work so it's time to ask for help. I am using BWC and my email is at Alltel.Blackberry.com. I have my BB7250 settings as follows:

Under Messages-Options-Email reconciliation

Delete on: Mailbox & Handheld
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Handheld Wins

The problem is when I read my emails on the BB and delete them, they still show on the website in my Inbox as unread. I have waited several hours and they still show up on the website. I have tried Reconcile Now on the BB and that has not helped.

Am I doing something wrong or does this feature just not work?

Try changing the last option to "Mailbox Wins". That fixed one of my users problem the other day.

Thig: is your BIS account 2.0? if it's not email will reconcile only to the BIS inbox - not to your actual account

BERDucky, I do have 1.8, but the inbox is all I am trying to reconcile. I have discovered this. My email service provider is local and I did not want to change my address so I am having my emails forwarded to my alltel.blackberry.com email address.

If someone sends an email directly to me BIS email address it will reconcile. But if it goes first to my service provider and then is forwarded to my BIS email it will not reconcile.

Your local account has no way of knowing if mail has been read or not. It's only being forwarded, it's not two way communication between BIS and your local provider.

so it reconciles to your BIS inbox? that's all it's going to do - won't go back to your forwarded address' inbox

won't even do this w/ BIS 2.0

No, I never expected it to go back to my original inbox and reconcile, but it would not even reconcile with my BIS inbox. I have fixed the problem. I am really not sure how, but I deleted all messages "manually" from my BIS inbox and my BB folders. After I cleaned out everything, it started working properly. The BB now reconciles with my BIS inbox. Thanks for all your help.

This discussion did bring up another question only because I am new to BB. How would I update to BIS 2.0?

Do you like being able to view your web inbox from your PC? If so Don't transition to BIS 2.0. Or if you use the Folders to manage your email. What provider are you with? Your provider needs to offre it. Most that have changed to BIS 2.0 so far did not leave an option to remain on BIS 1.8, only Cingular that I know of. Be sure you know what the differences are before you change unless your forced to.

Hope this helps.

<Do you like being able to view your web inbox from your PC?>

Yes I do, how else could you print those emails that you want a hard copy of?

<What provider are you with?>

I am with Alltel.

<Be sure you know what the differences are before you change unless your forced to.>

I guess I need to do more homework because at this point I am not forced to change, not sure if Alltel evens offers 2.0 as they did not mention this when I bought the BB 7250.

I don't know if they have done the transition yet. Probably not as you would yave been either forced to transition or offered the option when you login to your account.

Hope this helps.

if you are still using BIS 1.8 then you have to take a few more steps after you those settings, you original settins are correct but here is the rest. once you have deleted the necesary e-mails on your blackberry ( I used to do this once a day when i had 1.8) then from within the messages folder click the the trackwheel, then click roconcile now, then click options while in your messages folder, you will now see general options and e-mail reconciliation, click e-mail reconciliation and while in there click the track wheel again, you will now see "purge deleted items" click that and the mesages will disapear off you internet mailbox.....

I really thought that no U.S. Carrier that switched before had it a optional. Only that you had a one month grace period before they forced it on you. But I guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the update.

no problem

i don't think the upgrade will be forced on anyone anytime soon - at least not until all carriers have upgraded to 2.0 - and who knows if it will even happen then

So, I have a question regarding this matter.

I have a 7130c with Cingular.

I have 5 email addresses on my BlackBerry, and all receive mail just fine. When I pick "Delete on Handheld and Mailbox" they are definitely still left on the internet email website.

That means I have BIS 1.8? Or at least NOT 2.0?

And if I upgrade to 2.0, it means that the email will never be on my mailbox if it's sent to my BlackBerry?

Ideally, I want all the email sent to my BB, but left on my internet mailbox. BUT, if I choose "Delete from Mailbox and Handheld" I want it immediately (or close to immediately) deleted off the web mailbox, without having to do those extra steps.

And I tried those extra steps, and they work fine, so at least I have a way around this.

Sorry for the lengthy post.

And thanks.

EDIT: Wanted to add, I have 2 "sbcglobal.net" email addresses, which are essentially paid for Yahoo addresses, and 2 Gmail accounts.

EDIT2: Oh, and one other thing, how do I check what BIS I'm running?

Thanks again.

1) when you sign into Cingualr are you prompted to upgrade? do you have an inbox in your BIS site?

if you have an inbox your 1.8 - if not your 2.1

2) wireless reconcile is not instant - it can take up dot 20 mins. if you want it to occur instantly do a Reconcile Now

Thanks for that.

I've figured out that I have 2.1.

The screen looks like 2.1, no inbox, etc.

So, it will wirelessly reconcile all accounts automatically? If I have it set for that? And I can change that setting per account?

I was just hoping I'd never have to pick "reconcile now".

It seems you're saying it will do it automatically.

If that's the case, that's cool.

THanks.

Try saying "no" to "confirm delete".

This did it for me (although I have Cingular)
