Hi all,

I've acquired a 7100t and am now trying to get it working using a hosted BES (mail2web). I have taken an account with them and activated their Blackberry service and tried to input the name/pass and the phone gets stuck on activating...

Their support tells me I should have an entry in the Message Options section. I also don't have any service books. So I'm wondering what I have missed to get this working? I have inserted my SIM card from my old phone and the phone and SMS features of the Blackberry work fine. The display shows the GPRS signal too.

So, I don't have a BIS, so I can't log in anywhere....do I need to do something else to make this work? The only other thing I know is that this phone was previously used on BIS.

Maybe that's the problem. I don't think I have. I have a 'normal' plan which covers voice, SMS, MMS etc. I've just inserted my old SIM into a Blackberry expecting it to work (after taking a hosted BES). I guess I need to get onto my provider.

Yes - you must have a BlackBerry Data Plan from your service provider. Without it, you can't get onto the RIM network and you will never get any service books pushed.

Update: I'm getting a new 8700 from Vodafone. Can't wait.
And Orange's customer care is hideous. They really don't support Blackberry very well.
