When the Blackberry drops a call it plays that, "dissconnected number" tone really loud in the ear piece. I would really like to get it to stop doing this. Any suggestions?

I have to say I am not a Blackberry fan, it was forced on me by my company. It's going to be hard to convince me to like the Blackberry as it is and if I can't resolve this problem, I'm just going to continue hating the thing. Everytime it slips out of the belt clip and falls I hope it's broken. I've never hated a device as much as I hate this thing.

i agree with you monte, it is incredibly annoying.. i don't see why the dropped call tone can't be at the same volume of the call. however, i've seen other threads about this, but never a solution on how to resolve it. if you find one... please let us know. my ears will thank you.

Given the rest of your email, it's hard to believe that this is really the "straw that broke the camel's back" that you're making it out to be. AFAIK there's no way to change this. It's possible that a different carrier's OS might make a difference, but I really doubt it.

I've just come from the T-Mobile store. One of the guys claims to be friends with an engineer that is high enough up to get an answer for us and he's suppose to e-mail me as soon as he talks to the guy. Maybe there will be a solution.

You are correct, I have disliked the Blackberry from the start for numerous reasons but every time it blast that tone in my ear I hate it more. Strange thing, just hours after the original post, I got my wish. I went to take it off the charger and the screen back light was on but no icons. Now it will not power up at all! This is why I just went to the T-mobile store. Bad news is they are sending me another one Good news is that it will not arrive before I leave for China Monday so I'm turning on my old LG Verizon phone for the 6 ~ 8 week trip.

Yes, I know what you mean. Rogers Wireless doesn't seem to drop calls very often in Calgary where I'm based, but it sure has heck drops quite a few downtown Vancouver when I'm working there.

Although, I should note that it always happens when I make an outgoing call within a few seconds of dialing, I've never (not that I remember) had a call dropped on Rogers during a conversation with my 8700r.

How can you use a Verizon phone in China? Isn't it CDMA vs. GSM???

Europe is GSM only. China has CDMA that Verizon can roam on.
