Default BlackBerry-to-SnailMail

Please Login to Remove!

Please forgive what must be a rather lame inquiry—I'm a "newbee" who shall be moving into a "BlackBerry environment" shortly, and need to come "up to speed" in its unique capabilities ASAP. Ordinarily, I'd spend time doing my "homework" by researching everything BlackBerry via the Internet. Unfortunately, I am on a very short fuse, while simultaneously being hampered by a dying computer and very poor (due to recent storm damage) dial-up access. With that rather lengthy apologetic introduction, here is my question:

I was expecting to receive a snail-mail recently. When it didn't arrive, I queried the sender. He indicated that "It was mailed to your home—sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless."

Can someone explain precisely what that means—specifically, how that works (and point me in a direction for further investigation)?

Many thanks,

-Rick

That just mean he replied to your inquiry from his BlackBerry. His signature is 'sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless'. Check out the BlackBerryFAQ here at BlackBerry Forums for a ton of useful info on BlackBerry devices.

The only way this would have occured is if he printed the document via bluetooth printer (there is a program out there, forgot the name off the top of my head) from his BB and placed it in an envelope to mail it.

I would imagine he ment he emailed it to you from his BB. Check your inboxes to make sure it's not there. Otherwise I'm totally clueless as to what he meant as it's impossible to snail-mail from a BB (that I'm aware of anyways).

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks to both of you for an incredibly rapid response!

I am doubtful, however, that it was his signature. I had several back-and-forth eMail conversations with him prior to this. It was in response to my query regarding not receiving any snail-mail that he responded—via eMail—with "I don't know. It was mailed to your home on monday or tuesday. Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless."

Hmmm...now that I re-read it, I think you are correct!!

Shall I slap myself for being rather blind and thick-headed?

Nah no need to slap yourself, that would just be silly.

The signature he has is the default signature for BIS. He just hasn't changed it.
