Default Synch with multiple outlook contact folders?

Please Login to Remove!

OK, I am TRYING to be organized....Not easy for me! But, I have about 5 contact folders in my outlook. That way I can organize them according to what group they should be in. Obviously, the blackberry is only set to sync with one folder...the main contact folder. Is there a way to get all the rest of those contacts...in the other folders.....into my blackberry?

Thanks!

-Don

I wish I could help you but unfortunately I am having the same problem. When I put my contacts into the BB I stupidly assumed it would take the folders and sub-folders with it, but noooo. I now have over 800 contacts in one folder! ACK!
Anyone out there with ideas? Please help us.....
Thanks!

Why don't you just create categories for your contacts and then have them in one contacts folder. That way you can even use your blackberry to filter which contacts you want to look at by category. I believe the max number of categories the bb can see is 15, but I might be wrong

While I don't have over 100 contacts yet, I use the categories feature to sort out my contacts. Quickest way to enter categories is thru Outlook and then sync it back to the handheld. That will save you lots of time, especially if you have a lot of contacts.

You'd be better off adding Categories that correspond to the different Contacts folders you've created and assign the contacts categories. You benefit in two ways. First, you can filter the Address Book on the BlackBerry by Categories, and second, you'll be able to assign multiple categories to contacts, so someone who's a FRIEND from WORK will show up when filtering by one or the other or both. You can also filter on the BlackBerry by multiple categories.

That said, you can sync to multiple contact folders in the same Outlook Profile easily, although not wirelessly, using Desktop Manager. Simply add the appropriate folder in Desktop Manager. Simply disable Wireless Sync in Desktop Manager and add the folders in question.

You can map multiple contact folders through the desktop manager - but on the handheld they are all in one list - then you can filter via category.

Does anyone know an ETA on when to expect a fix for the BB to Outlook sync with multiple categories per contact? As it is any contact with multiple categories goes through an update process every sync, making the sync take longer than necessary. It has something to do with a space following the seperator, I believe.

I couldn't figure out where to do this in 4.2... any idea? I'm trying to do this for a friend of mine (I run on a BES) who simply runs the desktop redirector on her home office computer. We have about 400 contacts right in her contacts folder, but there are also about 500 more divided up between 3 more sub folders (under contacts)... and as mentioned above, only the first 400 (living in contacts) are sucked down to the BB. Thougts? Thanks!!!

Under Synchronize --> Configuration. You have to have a compatible app set up (Outlook), and the BlackBerry connected.

You can select multiple contacts and assign them to the same category in Outlook.
