Default How does "Hide Filed Messages" work?

Please Login to Remove!

I am using BES with my 8700c running 4.1 OS to connect to Outlook 2003. I have rules in Outlook which redirect messages to subfolders under my Inbox on the exchange server.

On my blackberry the redirected messages show up in the main mailbox folder. At the top of the message it notes the correct subfolder, and the message is also under tat folder when using "view folder".

I thought setting the mail general option Hide Filed Messages to Yes would keep these messages from displaying under my main screen, and I could just view them when viewing the specific folder.

Is this how the option is supposed to work? If so, any thoughts on what could be going on?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/126)

Sounds like the rules in Outlook don't apply when messages are received BUT if you have the outlook client on all the time then the rules will run and it should hide your messages. Try doing a reconcile now and see if your messages disappear (get hidden).

When I file messages on my handeld with this option turned on those messages are then hidden. They are not hidden by default when forwarded to the handheld.

I've tried "reconcile now" option and it doesn't have any effect. According to the user's guide, Hide Filed Messages should work with messages filed using remote mail services (not just filing on the BB). Interesting that their user's guide has words such as "should" and "maybe" when denoting this.

For now I searched and found a workaround that's reasonable. I can create a search which just picks up all my messages in the Inbox folder and assign this to a hotkey (such as Alt-M for MyInbox). That way Alt-M gives me the view I was expecting.

My work is upgrading to BES4.1 in two weeks, I'll be curious to see if that might help things out.

hi,

we're on BES 4.1 and have the same problem.

the message appears on the handheld message screen and in the subfolder(this message is filed as it has the filed icon), the only way to remove it from the message screen is to file it from the handheld manually.

IF, instead of filing, the user deletes this message from the handheld message screen, it will delete the email from the outlook subfolder and the bb subfolder...

the search you've created is temporary i assume, once you click the back button, you get the main message screen again?
