Exclamation Newbie needs to change user ID. Help!

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a factory refurb. 7290, and it came perfect except that the former owner's user ID is still stored in the phone. (I bought it from a wholesaler, so they don't know what the user ID is, either.) When I try to set up a new account for email, I get the message "an account already exists for this PIN." Is there anything I can do to reset the user ID? Cingular can't reset it because the PIN and IMEI are still registered with some other provider. Any ideas? HELP!

No, my carrier is Cingular. I bought the phone unlocked, so the original carrier could have been almost anyone.

Best bet option would be to contact RIM directly.

You have encountered one of the biggest problems of buying a used BB. Glad you managed to get the problem resolved. That is not always the case, however. If it was either reported as lost or stolen, you would most likely have been out of luck.
