Default Using unlocked 8700c in China

Please Login to Remove!

I am planning to visit China and want to have my BB emails (corporate and Gmail) active. My 8700c is unlocked. What's the best way to do this?

What's the pros and cons of buying a local SIM card or upgrading to Cingular's International plan?

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

If you but a local sim card, you would have to have a blackberry data plan active on it. Cingular's international plan is $70 a month, but may still be cheaper if you only want it for data.

If I buy the local Chinese SIM card, then would I be able to access my BES corporate email? Or must I only use Cingular for that? What about my BIS email? Can I get that?

If you use a local sim card, your BB becomes a phone only. You will lose all BB email services.

Not always the case, just check with your provider.

If you add the International package to the Cingular BB it is a few dollars a month and lowers their obscene international roaming rates to merely outrageous. It does not get to $0.05 per minute like a local SIM card but it is your own phone number to stay in contact with everyone.

what about using two sim cards. One for calls and the other to get email. the system should hold the data until it sees the correct sim
