Default Google Maps on a T Mobile BB

Please Login to Remove!

I read of people on this forum that say they have Google Maps working on T Mobile Blackberrys, but the Google Map website says that it won't work on T-Mobile's phones. If anyone has succeeded in making Google Maps work on a Tmo BB, can they share it in this thread? The only way I know of getting Google Maps on Tmo is to use the Hello World. reader.

Google Local Maps (Google Maps) works perfectly on T-Mobile BlackBerrys. We are using BES, so that may matter.

On your TMO blackberry just go to Google Maps and download the file over the air.

It works perfectly. (I am on TMO 8700g) (roll over "google maps" above for the link)

I use Google Local on my T-Mobile 7100t and have not had a problem in over a year. I am on BIS, so yours should work fine.
The note about T-Mobile phones may be true for their non-BB phones, but the BB's are different from tMo's other phones.

On my 7105t I cant not download Gmaps to save my life. I use the OTA link and download the most current version then prompts me saying the is not a support softeware download anyway I click yes. When finished installing the nomals Gmaps icon is not there it is some kind of little icon that looks like a torn map. Then when I click to open I get some kind of script error. Please help.

Sorry for the typos. Does anyone else get that prompt that Gmaps is not supported software?

I have downloaded the file OTA and it doesn't seem to work. I notice that most of the responses are from people w/ newer devices. I just bought a 7100, so maybe it'll work on that one. MY BB may just be too old.

I saw that note on the Google website but I have heard several people got their Google maps working on T-mobile so I decided to give it a try.

It works on my Blackberry 7290. I very happy with it.

Give it a try. If it doesn't work than you can always uninstall it.

You don't have to do anything special before you install it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7230/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

All right, I'm ready to be flogged with a dead mackerel. I just downloaded the current version and surprise!, the thing works. Recent attempts didn't work. The mods can smack me now. :-D

I use Google Maps both on my 7750 (Verizon) and T-Mobile SDA. Never had any issues with Verizon. For strange reasons, sometimes T-Mobile cannot connect Google. It wasn't working for a month or so earlier this year. Not just Google Maps, but Goole search page and Gmail as well. I could access all other websites in the world, except for Google. I called up T-Mobile customer support. They acknowledged the problem, but they didn't have a solution. It is working great now.

PS: Off the topic. I have MS Virtual Earth Mobile as well on my SDA. It's a great product too.
