Default USB connectivity problems

Please Login to Remove!

I am using a 7250 on a desktop running windows XP service pack 2.
I have installed desktop version 4 on my desktop computer, plugged the blackberry directly into the desktop (as suggested) I was using a hub previously. It is not recognised as a synchable (sp) device. however, all the settings in the device manager are correct and when I plug it in to the computer device manager refreshes and it is appropriately recognized as a rim handheld.
I have also installed the software on my laptop in this maching the BB and intellisync work just fine.
So there is nothing wrong with the bb, or the connectivity but there is something wrong with my install of windows.... I just dont know what it is. I have taken other suggestions from this site such as "downgrading" to desktop 3.6 service pack 3 to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas? I have also stripped out all the other devices (except the mouse) from my usb hub. Still no connection between the BB and this computer.
Any ideas?

try removing vendor.xml or device.xml maybe? or copying them to backup files if you like.

I am not clear on your issue...

Is it that Windows is not recognizing the device accurately, or Desktop Manager cannot find it when you attempt to Detect it?

Have you tried the communication port detection through the application loader in the Desktop software?

It will try to detect the device based on the PIN.

Another option is to try loading the desktop software again with the unit plugged in. The software may close immediately. Remove the software again, unplug the bb, reinstall and plug back in. It sounds crazy, but it worked for me.
