Why is it that when some one that is in my address book calls me the phone only displays thier phone number and gives me the option to "answer" or to "Ignore"? It does not display the persons name that I have in my address book. My old cheap phone use to display the persond name and phone number if it was somebody that was in my address book. I would think that this BB that cost a lot more and has a lot more functionality would be able to display the persons name that is calling me. When I see only a phone number I don't know who is calling me. I can memorize all 96 phone numbers that are in my address book.

Which model device are you referring to? Address book entries for incoming calls are indeed displayed by default.

I use the 7250. The number that is in my address book does display but not the name of the person calling me.

Check for 1 and the area code in your address book entries. If the caller's number (when calling you) doesn't match how you have it entered in your address book, it won't show the name.

I did not add "1" to the address book. Are you saying that I need to do this to have tha name displayed? My old cheap phone I did not have to do this.

If that is how the number displays when you get called, yes. they have to match exactly.

It encrypts the data on your BB. Most people seem to find it unnecessary and inconvenient.

Does the encrytion prevent the phone name of the person calling me being displayed?

That is my understanding, but I never actually experimented with it myself.
