Default BES without Exchange/Lotus/Groupware?

Please Login to Remove!

we started having problems with our Blackberry's after they switched from the web client to the BIS. Mostly red x's.

After a few calls to Tech support I finally found one that knew what was happening and it has everything to do with the BIS polling the email server every 15 minutes, not being able to foward emails created on the BB, etc.

Anyway long story short to make the BB be useful we'll probably need to get the BES - however we do not use Exchange, Groupware or Lotus notes. Will we be able to use BES without the three above? - Trick it so to speak?

Thanks all,
Stuart

BES without a mail server is like a car without wheels my friend!

No go I'm afraid. Being the three main mail server environments, BES is written to be compatible with just those mail servers.

lovely,

We kind of came down to having to justify spending more money to get an exchange server to overcome BIS's serious deficincies. That's a tough nut to crack when there are alternatives.

Well, thanks anyway - I appreciate your time.

Default Hosted BES

If you're not running Exchange, Lotus or Groupwise, you would probably be best to go with a hosted BES solution. There are several available if you do a search for it...
