Default import contacts

Please Login to Remove!

SO I am coming from Verizon , no SIM.. I save all my verizon contacts in a csv file. I don't normally use Outlook on my home machine, but it looks like I will need to get the contacts INTO outlook to then sync them with the BB..

BUT, the import into Outlook only copies the entries with email addresses and does NOT copy the phone numbers of ANY entry.

so, what is it I am doing wrong? I checked the column mapping and am happy with the planned data movement.. but nothing happens.. the phone numbers are just strings, no area code or prefix separators 512xxxyyyy not 512-xxx-yyy.

Any suggestions welcomed..

Sam

You know, I have never had much success with the Outlook import csv. I always end up losing something. So, I'm afraid I can't really help you. However, you are probably more likely to get an answer if you include what version of Outlook you are using. I'm sure it would help people troubleshoot your problem.

512 huh? Are you in Austin? I only ask because I lived there for quite a long time.

Thanks... Yes I live in Austin, now 9 years.. love it..

I have tried two different Outlook versions, 2002-sp3, and Office Pro 2003 SP2. Both show the same problem on two different systems.

Import from excel file fails too (unknown format)..

I actually never cared for Austin, being a beach bum myself, but I have family there, so have spent a lot of time in Austin. I do have to say I know a lot of people who would never live anywhere else.

One thing I might suggest is trying some other software that can either be imported, or synced to Outlook. One of the things I have always disliked about Outlook, is that for something that is supposed to be the end all and be all of professional messaging and PIM apps, it really does a pretty shoddy job of importing and exporting data.

I personally use the website Plaxo as my main repository of contact information, and then just sync Outlook to that solely for the purpose of connecting to my BlackBerry.
