Default Silencing Email from a Particular Sender

Please Login to Remove!

First off, thanks to everyone on the forums who made my transition to BB as painless as possible. I cannot tell you how helpful this forum has been in answering all of my questions.

I have a question that I can't find the answer to (perhaps because there is no answer): I would like to have emails that come from one particular sender received without notification. I created an address book entry for the sender with their email address and I tried creating a custom ring tone of mute, but that only works for calls. I get sports news updates and I don't need to be notified when they come in, but I still want to get notified of all of my other messages.

I have an 8700g w/TMO.

Any ideas?

Create a filter to set the particular sender as a priority one message. Then set priority one messages to no notification.

I guess we don't have BES 4.0 or greater since I don't see email filters in my message options screen (that is the screen I get to when I am in a message and select Options and it has two choices: General Options and Email Reconciliation, correct?)

This is catered for on 4.1 or greater, even if you just upgrade the Handheld OS. It is part of the Profiles, setup an Exception. I only use this to set profiles for senders. I use Phone Only and where I want to hear Notifications from specific senders I create an Exception for that Person or group of people or company.
