I'm using a BB 7750 on verizon. All incoming calls go directly to Voicemail until I place an outgoing call. Once I place the first outgoing call, then the phone will correctly ring when someone calls me and it continues to work correctly until I turn the phone off. Verizon, like always, doesn't have a clue. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Upgrade to a newer device for one. One of the problems with CDMA devices is if data is being transmited, voice goes directly to voice mail. It doesn't suspend the data transmission. The newer 7250 device uses EVDO which handles this better.
