Bb Vs. Q

Can Anyone give me a break-down of what the benefits of having a BB compared to a Motorola Q would be? I am with Verizon and cannot decide of I should buy a Moto Q or wait until the 8703e(supposedly coming out soon)(Or i could just go with a 7250). I played around with a Q and seemed it was not too shabby. I am not a big business man w/corporate stuff or anything, and i'd basically be using it to take to college and for internet, organize, email, maybe some notes etc. So what device would be right for me? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Biggest difference between a blackberry and a Q...Blackberries don't SUCK! I used a Q for one weekend and hated just about every minute. To be fair, I will say that it has a BEAUTIFUL screen and the form factor is great. If you MUST have an MP3 player and a camera and you don't want to fork over the money for a Treo, I would reluctantly recommend the Q. If you really need something reliable for e-mail, internet, calendar, etc. nothing will beat the blackberry. I would recommend waiting for the 8703e but the 7250 works well too...

What did you hate about it?

Wow! Where do I start...

1) The battery life was terrible. I charged the phone all night and by 6pm that afternoon, the phone was absolutely dead. IMO, the extended battery is a must.

2) The buttons on the keyboard seemed hard to press.

3) Bad navigation. It seemed like everything took 10 steps to do. For example, it took about 5 clicks just to lock the phone.

4) No copy and paste feature

5) Froze very often. Compared to a blackberry that has yet to freeze...

The list goes on but these were some of the main items that stood out to me. It's an alternative to a blackberry but a far cry from the "blackberry killer" they advertise it to be. Take it from me, I REALLY wanted this to be a great phone but in the end, I could not fool myself into liking it.

I second all of that. I thought it was going to be good, but ended up returning it about 7 days after I got it for a BB.

I've not owned the Q, but I'm hearing from users that it's quite "buggy".

And I too am not thrilled with the lack of Cut & Paste on the Q. Yes I am aware that you can install software that gives you this functionality, but something so useful and necessary should be part of the UI.

Although I too am waiting for the 8703e from Telus coming in early October, I currently own a 7130e and have been extremely happy with it. However, in your case, you may want to take a long hard look at the Moto Q simply because of your needs. You want to be able to organize, and at that I would think the Q is better than the BB. Email by far is one of the strong points of the BB, along with battery life, and of course first and foremost, it is an exceptional phone. OTOH, the Q is reportedly a good phone as well.

In any case, I would certainly hold off any purchase just to see what the 8703 will look and feel like, because it will have a slightly larger screen than the 7130e, and it will have a full qwerty keyboard.

Spend time in the store and get the feel of both the MotoQ and the BB. Personally speaking, I of course prefer the BB, but do play around with the Q so you know for sure.

Good luck with your purchase.
