Default RIM's first office/store...?

I'm looking through some of my old pictures from a trip to Australia and happened to come across this rather amusing picture that reminded me of our favorite Waterloo-based technology company.

This can't be a RIM facility-it appears to be stocked with a variety of Sidekicks....

DOH!

I'd love to see a stand-alone RIM store. I can't see them doing as many as a carreir like T-Mobile or Verion, but a store in a major city like New York, LA, or Chicago could be a strong performer. Knowledgable reps that can activate you with the carrier of your choice. Walk in with an idea that you might like a Blackberry, walk out completely set up and running. Nice.

That store front would look good in the middle of Manhattan!

Doubt we'll ever see that, unless RIM turns consumer-oriented. This kind of idea rarely works out. Motorola has a storefront in Chicago, and maybe other cities. I believe Nokia has a store. Aside from them, no other manufacturer has store presence, I don't believe (perhaps Palm does now, or atleast did in their heyday).
