Default Prospective Blackberry User with a question...

First off I must say that this site is one of the best I've seen. I've learned a lot just by reading the many FAQ's and stickies. I just have a semi-technical question that I'm sure one of the esteemed minds can answer. I'll try to keep it short.

Right now I am a Tmobile Color Sidekick user, using the device basically for data services. I use another carrier for my voice usage. However, there are beginning to be too many service outages and issues for me to tolerate. I have a few friends that have purchased Blackberry's and are very happy with them. I am looking into doing the same, however there are a few essential features I am used to with the sidekick, that I would have to be able to enjoy on the blackberry as well. I basically use the AIM and email feature on my sidekick. I have read about and also experienced Verichat so I know the AIM end is covered. Now the sidekick email system allows me to view picture attachments in the emails. A friend of mine has a Blackberry 7230 with T-Mobile (the model I would be purchasing) and was told by a mutual friend (a 7520 user with Nextel) that once his 7230 was upgraded to the 4.0 OS, he'd be able to view picture attachments. His 7230 is upgraded, yet he can't view the pictures. Was our Nextel user friend inaccurate? (he can view attachments with his 4.0 device w/o 3rd party software) Is there a setting that a 7230 must be set with in order to view pictures in an attachment? Are there any Tmobile 7230 users reading this that are currently viewing pic attachments w/o 3rd party software? If so, what are YOUR settings? I'd love to know what's going on with that because this is an important feature to me. Thanks in advance for anyones input..

I am not sure if TMobile added the picture attachments or not (AT&T did a few weeks ago).
I would have your friend send a service book to himself, and he may have picture attachment viewing.
Otherwise he should call Tobile.
I use the attachments quite often on my ATT 7780, and it works pretty slick.

Thanks a lot jbairdjr for taking the time out to respond. My friend has since called T-Mobile and was told that some pictures would show, some wouldn't. He wasn't clear about the criteria though. So that didn't help that much. From what I see there's a much smaller percentage of T-Mobile users here compared to the other carriers. I'd appreciate anybody with further knowledge on this, or anyone using a BB on t-mobile viewing attachments to shed some light on the subject.
