Default Two CDMA devices on one "line"

I'm getting ready to take the leap into the world of Blackberry ownership (I'm one of the few holdouts at my office).

I'd like to go with Verizon, and am hoping they'll get an 8700 model sometime in the near future. If they don't launch it by year end, I may just get a 7130e, though.

My question: is there any way to get both a BB and a simple basic phone to work on the same phone line with Verizon? I don't want to use both at the same time. I just want to be able to leave my BB at home and take my basic phone with me on those occasions when I don't want work e-mail to follow me and/or don't want to carry around the BB brick.

Possible solutions to this problem that I've tought of include:
  • Get a GSM Blackberry and swap the SIM card when I want to use a different phone (downside = can't use Verizon)
  • Keep a second mobile phone with a separate plan, and set the BB to forward calls to the second line (downside = potentially expensive; outgoing calls from the second phone will appear to come from a different number)

Obviously, neither of these is ideal.

So, is there a way to hack the ESN on a phone (I would be cool with just about any basic phone, candybar or clamshell) so that when I turn off the BB and turn on the basic phone, VZW thinks I'm turning the same device back on?

Can't be done.

And it seems you already know your options...so, choose the lesser of two evils....
