Although many of us have not had the pearl, I can at least attest to RIM's attention to detail in design and i expect this device to carry forward all of RIm's strengths:

* Rock solid data execution (it WORKS!)
* Reliable, solid e-mail delivery
* Solid operating system, rarely ever crashes
* Secure, safe (security is paramount in the RIM world. All data is encrypted over the wireless network!)
* Designed for relability, includes super long battery live (measured in days, not hours)
* Blackberries are designed to MINIMIZE your data charges through efficient use of the data nework. Blackberries use 1/5'th of the data most other data devices consume, if considering e-mail alone.

* Not as much third party software to choose from
* You are generally stuck with RIM's software if you do not like the built in applications
* the PDA portions of the RIM device work, but are not as strong as other offerings

Love- tough choice here, so many things I love about my Berry, but the thing I think that sets BB apart from others is the speed and security of the e-mail push. No one else does it as well.

Hate- I have a 7100t, and the display tends to wash out in outdoor light- however later models ( 8700, 8100, have corrected this very well, just need to get off my butt and upgrade.

Love/Hate- My Berry and I have an ambivalent relationship-if you get one, you will become hooked on it, at the expense of social relationships, work deadlines, etc.
1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

This is purely in the eye of beholders. TO me, I like to hold gadgets that have a certain level of heft. Blackberries, as wonderful as it is, still feel a bit flimsy to me.

I concur with everything (I think) in the posts by others before mine here. I used to use a 7100t, and not being able to see the screen in daylight caused me problems a few times. I guess you could say I hated that. Now have 8700g and this is not a problem. What I love about the BB is the simplicity and the reliability. It is very elegant.

I have an 8700c and a 7290...

Reliability and durability of both the OS and hardware.

Unbeatable push email.

Integration with my mailbox (I'm on BES with an Exchange account).

Lack of certain phone features such as voice dialing.

Phone is pretty good but not very good. Mostly the mic picks up a bit of background noise.

Lack of software choices compared to other platforms.

I hate the lack of the weekly view in the calendar that my old Treo had. The page is layed out like an old fashioned weekly date book. I solved my phone issues with a bluetooth headset, and my 8100 now supports voice dialing, though not through the headset.
