The Letter D Over the Check-Mark

Does anybody know that the letter D over the check-mark means after you send an email?

D=delivered. But I only see this on the BB Messenger and PIN messages.

It means your PIN message was Delivered to the target blackberry

brewgod23 09-13-2006 12:51 PM

But I sent it to a regular email address not to a BB email address with a PIN. I know that the other person has his company email fowarded to his BB. Is that why I got the D? My other sent emails did not do this.

Did you send it as a SMS message? They can be sent to either email address or phone numbers. If yes, your carrier returned back to your device that it successfully delivered the message to the desired recipient.

No. I sent it through my BB via my personal email address to a company email receipiant that gets redirected to the thier BB. maybe his BB sent a reply back notifing me the delivery?

I have sent other emails through my BB to email addresses to people that don't have BBs and I never got this letter D before. I just noticed it on this email I sent to somebaody I know is using their BB.

Regardless of how you sent the e-mail or what, the little D means delivered as stated above.

I email people directly to their BB address(BIS), as well as addresses forwarded to their BB. I never get a "D" on any of them. Only when I PIN message (and BB messenger).

I don't even know the persons PIN to be able to send a messege that way. I don't think it is that.

Maybe his/her address book entry has a PIN set. Check the addr book entry.

I noticed the new 8700 software can send via pin when i look up via the contacts. I was in messenger attempting to contact someone and did not realize it. The contact was made in messanger although it pulled the info from the email list. I guess it will attempt to work BB to BB and if it finds a remote PIN it uses it. Anyway thats my impression. I did see the "D" on the sent messages

Delivered, as in it is on their BB now. It doesn't mean that the person read the message right?

Checkmark = Sent
Checkmark w/ D = Sent and Delivered to user's handheld
Checkmark w/ R = Sent, Delivered to handheld, and Read by user

i PIN someone often and I never have seen the R. I'm wondering why? I have had the same experience on both my old 6230 and my newer 8700g. The person I PIN uses a 7520 on Nextel. Why won't the R work on my BB?

Gareth.Hooper 09-18-2006 03:26 AM

The D and R are related to Pins only, not emails.
You will not see this for Emails, For email delivery confirmations use <confirm> preceeding the subject, on replies move the <confirm> to the beginning of the subject line if you wish to recieve further delivery confirmations for the replies back and forth.
