| cookies and 6730 Please Login to Remove! I'm having some questions about cookies and browser detection and couldn't find an answer by searching the forums.
My company just put up a mobile version of our website. We're redirecting mobile users to it. That loaded just fine for me on my Blackberry 6730 (running version 4.0 of the OS, if not better).
I heard Google does the same thing, but Google doesn't recognize that I'm using a PDA, so it doesn't redirect me. Another mobile user showed me there's a direct URL for it so when I went to their pda site directly it seemed to work. (Can't post the URL here, haven't made enough posts yet, but go to google and put "/pda" after the .com and you'll have it.)
I wanted to make sure that one loads for me from now on. I went to the Preferences page linked off the Google PDA home page, and that page says "Your preferences will only be saved for this session because your phone does not support cookies."
So my questions are:
1 - what's my company's website figuring out that Google isn't?
2 - is there a way I can turn cookies ON for my default browser so I can save these settings?
3 - any other ideas how I can get Google to always show me the PDA version? (I bookmarked the PDA home page as my Google page, but the results are still going to be regular HTML unless I set it every session).
Thanks for your help, Melissa |
