Default Email Address Book Sync

Please Login to Remove!

I want to have a separate Sync with my email address book...I have a ton of email addresses in my regualr outlook that I don't want on the BB. Also, I want to fill out the profiles more completely for Sync to Outlook. Is this possible? Hope that made sense!

Hi,

There's no easy way to selectively sync only some emails. You could try to create a separate Outlook Store on your hard disk that contains only the addresses you don't want synchronized to your BlackBerry. Basically, a new Inbox labelled "Alternate Contacts" tree with an unused blank Inbox, but a Contacts addressbook containing all the addressess you don't want synchronized to your Blackberry.

It is a pain to have to create a separate dummy Inbox, just to have a separate set of Outlook Contacts, but this is far by the easiest way. You can still drag and drop between the two Outlook addressbooks.

Alternatively, use the 'Categories' function when BlackberryOS 4.0 arrives, and you can filter the less important contacts out.

You can do this now...

Though if you have alot of contacts it could be a tedious task to setup, but once it setup you wouldnt need to worry about it pulling over the ones you dont want

Heres how to do it.

Open Desktop Manager

Double Click Intellisync

Click on Configure PIM

Highlight address book and click on Advanced Settings

Click on the Filters tab

here you can create filters which you can configure to filter any email address (or any field) out of the sync.

Now whatever you setup it will ONLY sync those items matching your filters

so open up the contacts you dont want to sync and add something to one of the fields you dont use

then use the filters to sync everything which DOESNT contain something in that field.

Click this link to see what I mean about the filter

Hope that helps!
