i have the 7139c from cingular. i know that when there is a new email or voicemail etc...the blinking green light turn to red. but when there is nothing the green light still blink. how do u turn off the blinking light...at nite..the blackberry is on a table next to my bed....it is annoying while i try to sleep.

so anyone know a way to turn this thing off? thx in advance.

Go to Options > Screen/Keyboard and change LED Coverage Indicator to Off.

Yes. It will flash red. The green light is a service indicator light.

The device LED blinks while the device is [turned off and] charging, regardless of device settings. vincentnyc may have the device [turned off and] charging on the table next to his bed.

What I will do sometimes is I just turn the wireless off.

yes following this instruction resolve the blinking green light problem even when im charging my device.

i also send a test email to myself and yes i do get a red light blinking. but i got 2 new email over night around 5 am and when i woke up this morning around 11 am...there was no blinking red light. so what is going on here? maybe there is a timeout or something....how do i make it keep blinking red until i open/read the new email?

The e-mail notification light does not blink indefinately,
it does have a timeout but I'm not sure what it is. As far
as I know there is no way to change the timeout duration.

No, it doesn't. I've had my light off since day one, and have never seen the green light since. It has nothing to do with charging.

The LED blinks when the device is turned off and being charged (from a travel charger), regardless of configured settings on the 7130c. When fully charged, the device will blink green for an amount of time and remain green thereafter. vincentnyc may have mistakenly had Auto Off enabled while the device was charging, resulting in a green, blinking LED. vincentnyc: Good to hear you resolved the problem .

It does on my 8700. To get the light, the power must be off and the BB charging.

Guess I've never charged mine with the power off...
