Default Does browser allow ports other than 80 8080 and 443

I am trying to go to a url on my 7100t that is not port 80 8080 or 443. (8888) I know the web site is open to the net - I can view it using a normal browser or a web based url checker. The BB browser however keeps giving me the error 503 server load is to much etc etc etc.

Any ideas?

PS: I wish I could run the site on 80 however for reasons my only my ISP can answer I cant run my little tiny personal web server
