Default BES Service & Nextelís Blackberry Internet Service

Please Login to Remove!

I hope someone out there can help me figure this one out?

Currently we have 5 devices setup on our BES server and that is working just fine.

One of the users decided to setup Nextelís Blackberry Internet Service on his device. So now his personal email accounts are synchronizing to his device. I am trying to understand if setting this up poses any risks to his device, our network or our email? (Virus, Spyware, Malware) Also is there anyway I can stop this sync from happening?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciatedÖ

Our primary devices are from Nextel, and I also use the BES and have a BIS account (had a 7520, now have a 7100i).

You cannot stop the device from receiving the BIS email, but you can, thru an IT Policy, stop the user from being able to 'send as' their BIS account (and force all outgoing mail to be sent from their business email account).

When you change the IT Policy to not allow the other email account(s), the icons will disappear on their devices. ALL mail will show in their main 'Messages' icon.

Does allowing access to there personal email accounts pose any potential risks?
