does anybody know, or know of a program that can enable you to transfer text messages (sms) to a computer? Perferably a PC. I have a Blackberry 8700 from cingular wireless.

I have never seen a way to transfer a text message directly, you could copy and paste the text from the text message as an email to yourself.

I was kinda wondering this myself. On my Treo, when I used Missing Sync, it would transfer the messages database file to my Mac. I'm pretty sure there used to be some sort of software that would let you do this with a Sony Ericsson too. I used it with my T610. It's been a long time though... I know you could connect your phone to your computer using BT and then send SMS messages from your PC. Not sure if it actually allowed you to back them up though, although I think it did.

ive got the 8100, and using the desktop manager, it shows an option to reconcile my sms texts to my computer, but i am not able to click on the button to do so. any ideas on how i can?

Where do you see this option in DM?

I am betting ALS580 would have seen that in the RESTORE function.

If I get a SMS I want to keep i simply email it to myself then save it when i get home

In the sync option? What version of DM are you using? Are you sure it is not through the restore function?

The screen shot doesnt show SMS reconcilliation.

I looked all over DM...i dont see it anywhere...

Tell it to save SMSes on the SIM (if you have a sim capable phone) and then use a sim reader to copy them. (You can also use a off the shelf smart card reader if you tape the SIM into the carrier card and use Dekart SIM Manager.)

Just forward them to your email.

Open the sms text > menu > forward as > email > enter email address > send.

Done.
