Question Problem: Message queue overflow on 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8700c for a little over 2 months. Suddenly the unit froze up with the following error message:

"Uncaught exception: Process
net_rim_bb_addressbook_app (2098) killed due to message queue overflow"

Since this happened it occassionally will temporarily unfreeze with access to messages. I started deleting messages. That did not resolve things and it has frozen up again. Any advice on what to do??

Have you entered any additional software other than what came from the factory. If nothing else do a sync, wipe your handheld and resync. These emails, do they have LARGE attachments?

I thinking wiping will be your best bet. Possibly requiring a software reinstall on the Blackberry:

That article was meant for developers, but I think it gives a bit of info on what (in general) is going on.

The two replies led in the right direction. As soon as the unit allowed me temporarily to operate it, I backed up the data to a file on my computer. I then deleted all messages and the address book that was frozen and involved, per the message. I then shut down the unit and removed the battery and then put it back in and restarted it. After a few minutes, the unit reconnected. I then plugged it into my laptop and used backup and restore to restore the backup address files I previously had.

Following all of the above, the unit appears to be operating fine. I thank you both for the feedback that led me in this direction.

JJBailey.
