I have a 7230 running 4.0 syncing with a BES (also 4.0) on Domino. As of today, I've lost the "reconcile now" option in the message app. I've tried powering cycling the device but this didn't solve the prolem and I've done some searching and can't find any other history of this happening...
Don't know if it's related or not but we had a major internet outage (almost 24hrs off the air) yesterday and when the Blackberry finally sync'ed with the BES, my option of "delete on both" had also been changed to "delete on handset only" as well as the "reconcile now" option being gone.
Has anyone experienced anything like this in the past? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

You should probably touch base with your BES Server Administrator. These are policy settings that the Admins can set globally (Wireless Email Reconciliation Enabled = True). Sounds like they changed some settings before making the server available again.
It maybe an idea to remove the Desktop [CMIME] entry and then re-sync. The deleted entry will reappear as the BES will send this over the air or via the cable.
The Desktop [CMIME] contains messaging settings that also include wireless reconcilation. The Service Book on the device may have become corrupt but its a test worthwhile doing.
We have a mix of 67XX and 72XX handhelds, running off an Enterprise Server for Exchange. One "odd" feature I've noticed is that disappearing "Reconcile Now" menu item. However, if you do something in Messages, like delete a message, it reappears. Guess the thought process was why reconcile if there's nothing to do. Try it. Oh, if you are at a loss for what to do, just send a test message to yourself.

If you have handhelds running handheld software 3.6/3.7/3.8, the option for Reconcile Now will only appear if a change occurs on the Blackberry (ie if a message is read or deleted).
If the devices are running handheld software V4 then this option is permanently ON.
I'm new on this forum as well as with blackberry.
We have Domino Server 6.03 on Windows 2000 server SP4 and BES 4.0.
BB version is 4.0.0.188 and we got the same problem as the OP described (this is the second time it happens within 2 months).
Here is what I tried :
-Wiping handheld and resync'ing (either with craddle or wireless)did not solve the problem
- Taking a brand new device (7730), upgrading software to V4.0 and reloading data did not solve the problem.
- Generating a new Enterprise activation Email and activating the device (throught wireless) did not solve the problem.
So what I did to correct the problem ?
Well I know this is not THE solution but I simply deleted the users within BES and started from scratch in both cases.
What I noticed ?
I got a message that the encryption key was out of date and needed to regenerate one. (got this message on both devices.)
I'm still trying to find another solution to this pb.
I have had this problem a number of times. It occurs every time that we need to shut down our servers temporarily. It has affected both our 7100s and 7230s, although it affects the 7230s more often.
We are running version 4.0, so it's not limited to earlier versions.
I have managed to fix it, although I'm not certain how, because I've found that the items in some of the options menus can change when you change other options. I think that what I've done is change the delete option in Email Reconciliation settings to 'delete on mailbox and handheld' (often this is changed to delete on handheld only after servers shutdown) and set Wireless Reconcilation to on. With a bit of playing with these options, the Reconcile Now option usually returns.
